I have a Minolta Dimage 5 - 49mm lens.
It zooms 35-250mm (equivalent) which is great for long range but I need a bit more wide angle for inside shots etc.
Can anyone recommend what to buy and where from - not bought this sort of thing before so don't want to get the wrong thing!
I went into Jessops and they said I'd need the lens and a "Series 7" converter - but didn't have it in stock so I said I'd order it online instead. The camera fits a 49mm polarising filter just fine, what does the Series 7 converter do?
Edit: does the fact it's a digital camera make difference - or can I just buy one that works with any SLR camera?

Hi John,
Some front-of-lens accessories, like wide angle adaptors, don't follow the usual filter thread sizes; they are 'Series 7' which IIRC is good for up to about 62mm.
Hence you need the correct 'Series 7 adapter' - a ring - which will fit your 49mm filter thread at one end and the Series 7 accessories at the other.
The fact your camera is digital will make no difference in this case, apart from the fact that focal lengths are different from what you'd get with 35mm.
What you need is a wide angle (are you sure you want fisheye - it is a very specific look) adapter. These are not the same things which you would usually get for an SLR, because they normally have interchangeable lenses, so if you want a wide angle you buy a specific lens. I'm not sure which adapter you need, but I would assume thats Jessops are correct in what they tell you. If you want, post a link to what you think is right and we can all have a look.
Bought myself a wide converter online from
www.digitaltoyshop.com/ few months ago. Arrived few days later. Cost circa £100, quality great. Box reads 0.5x; on my Olympus E10 reckon it's more like 0.7x but very useable nevertheless. If you want I can take a before/ after shot for you

Hmm, looks rather like Jessop's 'Semi-fisheye macro converter' at £49.99

i would highly recommend raynox! have both a wide angle and telephoto lens attachement for my canon powershot g3. The quality is very high and certainly worth a look.
I run the DCR-1850PRO Pro-Telephoto Lens 1.85X, and the DCR-720 Wideangle lens 0.72X
If you go onto their website www.raynox.co.jp/ they have a product finder, so they should be able to tell you what you need to install one of their lens on your camera.
Jessops can supply you with all the parts providing you have the code numbers.
Hope this helps,
Oliver

Thanks all,
I just bought this and the Series 7 adaptor
It looks pretty similar to this which is priced pretty similarly (euros) but the jessops one is "semi-fisheye" .. so have I ordered the wrong one?
Now I want the x2 telephoto lens as well .. 14x optical zoom would be nice
