I have just bought a new set of speakers and HU for my 1990 suzuki samurai. Both the speakers and head unit are 4ohm compatible, but when I turned the volume up the HU would cut out and turn back on until I turned it down again. This kept on happening except now the HU wont turn on any more.
I have tested the HU elsewhere (and it is fine), I have checked the fuses and made sure the car battery is in a good condition, but the HU still wont turn on. I have also changed the wires between the harness and HU etc and I cannot see any obviously dodgy connections.
Im really at a loss of what to do now, any suggestions?
Thanks!

Sounds like the speakers can draw more power than the headunit can put out. Put an amp in between?

Bad earth from the stereo, create an additional one and bolt it to the metal frame behind the dash

That doesn't sound right to me.
