Lights - action -????
Discussion
FIRST - The quality of everything supplied by Ultima during my build so far, I would say overall has been exemplary, and beats hands down the majority of suppliers out there. So a big thumbs up!
Having said this, even the very best will not always get everything right all of the time.
...which leads me to the front lighting...... maybe it's me, but these lighting units seem a little errr 'make-do-ish'?
Of course this might be down to me not doing things right...
The indicators, the rears are fine - front ones would not work at all - both refused to light up. On closer examination I found that both negative contacts inside the unit were 'floating' around a bit and not making contact with the bulb. I can see that these maybe need be secured to the body of unit by a single rivet which effectively holds the negative contact in place. The 'rivet' was NOT pushed through the neg contact in both cases. I had to drill out the rivet, and replace with rivet and washer which effectively 'clamped' the contact in its proper position, which pushes the contact firmly into the bulb side...and the problem went away!
Anyone else had problems like these?
Anyone know of direct replacements for LED indicators (would be nice since the rear ones are)

My radiator sprung a leak for the second time recently. I took it to a local repairer who discovered lots of "champagne bubble leaks" (his words) where the core tubes join the end tanks. The only cure was a recore. He was appalled at the quality of the original soldering!Gassing Station | Ultima | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
