Hi all.

I have posted a bit about my first HD Telly purchase and thanks for all your advice so far, cheers.

So I now have a Blu-Ray player, as recommended on this forum, and have upgraded to Sky HD.

Next the sound. The telly does not sound much compared to my old CRT and I am now looking at sorting that out.

I have been slavering over the many multi speaker AV receivers that are on the market but to be honest, as the telly is stuck in the corner of a small Victorian oblong lounge, it would seem to be a waste especially as the kids would knock the speakers about and I have nowhere to route the cables out of sight.

I have seen some of these sound bars, would they be ok? although they all look like they need to be mounted directly under the telly but as mine sits on a cabinet with the various boxes underneath maybe they are no good.

Help!! cheers.

Do you have room for just some nice bookshelf speakers next to the tv?

There are currently my old AR18s serving my old Nad amp, all bought in 1985, sitting on the top shelves each side of the fire place, about 7 foot up

Am thinking of running a cable twixt TV and old amp. Would this be any good plus I would have to run a separate cable for the Blu-Ray?

So one speaker would be would be directly above the right side of the telly whilst the other would be 6 ft to the left.

OK, connected up the Panny to my 26 year old Nad amp and it's good. Just enjoyed last night's episode of Strikeback and even though the telly is directly under the right speaker that is up by the ceiling with the left speaker 7ft away it seems to work fine.

Actually this is great as there is less for the kids to fek about with and they can just watch their stuff via the telly whilst anything I like can go through the amp.

May have just saved me £350, thanks.
