Fisheye lenses - what are they good for?

I've been thinking of expanding my lense kit to get another lense.

As I live in Singapore which offers plenty of good city scenery to take pictures of, I've long thought that a fisheye lense would be pretty cool. Now, other than city scapes, can you use them for anything else?

The Sony one seems expensive, are there any alternatives?

Big landscapes, and small rooms if you're an estate agent.

A55 your going to want something 8mm or so, anything much narrower wont be very useful.

They can make very interesting shots, great for skate shots etc, some landscapes, wierd portraits.

Very limited in use but can be used very effectively if you know what your doing.

On FF 15mm fills the frame , 8mm creates a circular image (ala door spy ).

Samyang make a nice fisheye, but it is manual focus only.

Fisheyes are more of a fun lens - the novelty can wear off after a while.

I use a Tokina 10-17 for this sort of stuff!

I would have thought that for cityscapes a rectilinear wide angle would be a better choice. Pictures of buildings taken with a fish eye just look too distorted to me.

I have a 10-22mm canon and its nice for shots of MBS or city scapes from Pinncle down town.
I did at first think I would not use a wide angle but my son wanted one for rolling shots of cars and once I got to use it its great.
I have also thought aboiut a fisheye but thought I would get board with it after a while, might try and hire the 8-15 zoom for the canon.
the shop recommended in the post above is good there is also a place in penisula shopping centre monster camera i think its called that have them in not sure about sony fit though.

They are used a lot in the action sports world, however, fisheye images can start to look very "samey".
