Video: Why (for Porsche) racing really does improve the breed
We fell over Porsche's Nurburgring 24hr winner the other day in Frankfurt, but we didn't tell you about it because we were too busy trying to get pictures of the new 911 through the crowds - and then we forgot.
The race-winning 911 - still bearing its battle scars - is a 2009 RSR. And it's the starting point for this video interview with Porsche's motorsport head honcho, Harmut Kristen.
There aren't any significant revelations in the flick, but Harmut does talk a little about how hybrid technology will find its way from the GT3R, via the 918 Spyder, to Porsche's forthcoming LMP1 contender and then into 'standard production cars'.
Or you could just enjoy the nice historic footage cut into the tape...

Very cool looking dirty and used!

love it when manufacturers leave them in 'just finished' race spec. for me it looks 100% better on a car stand than the shiny polished within an inch of its life ones everywhere else
only upsetting thing, is he was wrong. its not a 2009 spec RSR.. at least in 2009, Manthey won the 24hr with an RSR, which was quite different to this one:
2009 race winner:

2011 race winner

Am pretty sure this year's car was actually based on the latest (2011), RSR, with further Manthey modifications (in particular the replacement of the front canards, with smoothed off bodywork, to reduce drag).
