not affiliated with them in any way but it was refreshing to find a mechanic that is enthusiastic about his cars, Knowledgeable, charges a fair price for good (and quick) work

Mark carried out a full service inc cam belt, water pump, pads and underseal and were definately worth the drive from London

Yep they are good guys down there. I just wish they'd spotted the weird incorrect head/leaky gasket problem on my car before the full radiator/waterpump/hose change they did for me, however reasonably priced.

Yes, Mark is first class!

I'm also not affiliated, but have had my "Miata" serviced by Freelance Mazda for 7 years.

Some of the things I appreciate are that he is not pushing for things which aren't needed and tries to offer low cost alternatives when possible. He has also been always willing to accommodate my special wishes or needs (like letting me drop a car with a broken engine on a Sunday night after a bad gear change on a track day ;-)

Been using him for nearly 5 years and wouldn't take it anywhere else. What he doesn't know about them isn't worth knowing. Cheap prices, excellent work, good advice, and no bullst.

Had to leave my Mk.1 at the local main dealer when the clutch flexi-hose broke and I couldn't get it to Mark.

Result was £180 for replacing the pipe, plus:

- headlamp covers heavily leant on and bent down rolleyes
- clutch fluid spilt on the plastic scuttle at the bottom of the windscreen discolouring it.
- part of the air filter heat shield lost, resulting in a vibrating screw under the bonnet. I could tell what had happened before the starter had stopped turning when I fired it up, how were they happy leaving it like that!?
- the quote included a new master cylinder as the seals had gone. When I picked it up this was not fitted or charged for. I suppose the seals must have repaired themselves, otherwise it would mean that they were bullstting me on the phone with the quote and that can't be right...

Oh, and they broke my phone cradle!

This is a main dealer who supposedly knows the cars. You don't need to know anything about cars to see that the headlamp barn doors are bendy!

Still deciding whether to ring them about it. Doubtless it will be "our technicians are properly trained and would never have done any of these things, it must have happened whilst in your possession. You are a liar."

Anyway, Mark rules.

Another +1 for Freelance, Mark has been working on '5s since they were brand new.

Freelance Mazda is also Freelance Honda, and they do all the work on my S2000 now. However, if you wait for the work to be done, don't go in to Chatham - it is a horrendous cesspit.
