Morning all,

Thinking about an early ali bodied XKR (2006 / 2007) as a daily driver and I have a few questions. Budget is £25k.

1. What MPG can I expect with a mixture of town and motorway driving?
2. Are there any reliability concerns?
3. Does the steering column adjust for reach and height?
4. What aftermarket warranties are available and which are recommended?
5. How does the interior stand up to high mileage?
6. I’m assuming that they in the maximum road fund licence band?

Thanks and all the best.

1. Mid-20's
2. No, on the whole great car.
3. Yes.
4. Don't bother, keep the £1200/yr you would pay for a decent warranty untouched, in your bank account for any issues.
5. The early cars had 2 levels of trim, I would wait for a car with the 'luxury sport interior' which can be distinguished by the perforated leather seats and 16 way adjustment. The 'standard' interior isn't leather clad and the seats are woeful IMHO. Ivory wears better than charcoal. Caramel is plain awful!
6. Yes, but £1/day is worth it!

I would look for a 'launch' edition car like I had, registered around Nov'06, has all the best options fitted as standard. Early cars had nothing on them, not even the must have 20' Senta alloys. It may well take you sometime, but hold out for that beauty......

I average between 17-18MPG in mine but i live near Central London. Also i decided to pull the active sport exhaust fuse so the exhaust is alot louder and i'm wondering is that having an affect on my MPG.
I've had my 2008 fully loaded coupe for around 4 months now and so far so good. Car has 33k on the clock so far and interior looks brand new still. All in all a fantastic car with a brilliant gearbox and an engine that pulls like a train.

Go and get one, you won't regret it.
