best steering wheel to buy for ps3

sorry if this is a repost.
looking for a steering wheel for my ps3 for f1 2010 and 2011. what do people suggest. id like wireless and it has to sit on my lap and be comfy cant afford one of they custom chairs.

DFGT is cheap but not very good in comparison
G25/G27 are the next 'up'
Fanatec wheels are by far the best, but cost by far the most money


There is no point though if you're going to use it on your lap.

I have a DFGT, for the price you cant beat it but the G27 is the one to go for if money is not a concern.

As you mention, both wheels will be uselesson your lap.

The Fsnatec wheels are regarded as much better then the G27 but they are all relative in place. The cheapest wheel is the worst of the lot, the most expensive is the best.

G25/27 - second hand if necessary - and use an ironing board/dining room chair

The H box will add another dimension for other games, while not costing the earth like the Fanatec.

how much is it for a cockpit style console?

G27 for £180 delivered is a bargain!!!!!!! Wow!

If your using it on your lap (Even with a tray) forget the fanatec. The force feedback will tear it off your lap with ease.

Other option to go the Fanatec way is to table mount it or get the Rennsport stand. But by the time you have added the wheel (€295) the pedals (€150-199) the stand (€110) and the shifter set (€50) your talking quite a bit of cash.

You need something solid to attach to - if the wheel can move around it's not really going to work.

You need something that's solid on the floor - desk / high coffee table, or a properly designed rig, or google around for 'interesting' solutions involving ironing boards and the like.

My DFGT is great value - i use it on the PC for F1 2010, F1 2011 and Dirt 2. It works on the PS3 too, although i've never used it on a PS3. Cost me £80 a year ago.

With wheels you usually get what you pay for. The G27 linked to above is a bit of a bargain though!

Ironing board is great. Height adjustable too

Might be worth putting something heavy over the feet if you plan on running high force feedback.

Until recently i had the Logitech Wireless which unfortunately is no longer made. Sits well on yiur lap as it was designed too and has no pedals (use flappy paddles instead). I liked it and was a bargin at £30, overpriced at RRP of 80, ripoff at 104 that i saw on Play. Anyway it broke at 15mths of ownership but less than 12mths use. Couldnt be replaced so logitech gave me 50% off new GT wheel. Very accurate, pedals good once you get used to it, and have found something to clamp it too. Am i getting on with it ~ NO~ see GT5 thread but i am finding the 920' rotation a pain and cant catch slides like my previous wheel. Unless F1 has a way to replicate the more limited lock to lock of anF1 car it might be a nightmare...

Fanatec don't sell a wheel for 295 euros. The 911 Carrera wheel is 160 euros (I think) and the GT3RS V2 is 180 euros.

Also the shifters are 60 for the CSR and 30 for the standard.

I have just done the exact same thing Graham although I didn't sell my GT3, I probably will though.

The GT2 will be here by the end of the week!
