Not my sort of thing but I can't really see what the issue is - I presume they're just show cars, nobody's suggesting they're better to drive as a result of the mods.
It's no different to someone building, say, a monster truck. The end result is a vehicle that's perfectly useless in most situations.

Monster truck's have a use though? you can still drive them for a start! It's no different to someone building, say, a monster truck. The end result is a vehicle that's perfectly useless in most situations.
Race cars have camber.
people tilt their wheels on road cars to give more camber.
Blokey fashion picks it up and someone then puts more camber on their car then even seen before and gets a feature in Max Power.
Next bloke tilts it even more.
Eventually, some chops and rewelds their hubs and suspension to tilt a wheel at 45 degrees.
They win a wooden spoon and the whole pissing contest.
It was the same on wheel sizes a few years ago, I remember a BMW which had a vinyl 22 stuck by the wheels so everyone would know.
Same with lowering cars and people getting their sumps ripped off on speed bumps.
Same with tyre stretching.
