Does anyone know where you can take some tyres and get them siped?

I know it's common in the US, but I've not seen anywhere in the UK.

Do you mean recutting the existing sipes or cutting new ones?

New ones. I've got some MTs that I think would only be enhanced by siping.

I think you'd have a job convincing someone to do that for you. It's quite easy to ruin the tyre's handling, not to mention ruining the tyre itself by cutting too deep.
The furthest I've gone with it is recutting the main pattern of track tyres to get more life out of them.

That said, your best bet is to get hold of a commercial tyre fitter/retreader. They tend to have regrooving tools at the ready so could be persuaded to do it for you for a few shekels.

If you just cut into the tread blocks you will get a marginal improvement in grip but the tread block shuffle will be so terrible that your handling will go to crap. A proper siped winter tyre features interlocking blocks to assist the rigidity of the block pattern. Without interlocking siped sections, the tread block will rapidly heat cycle and lose structural rigidity. In short, it'll be like driving on jello.

I'm pretty sure it's illegal in some areas of the US and Canada too.
