Hello all, my name is Tom Scott aka Scoot. Been on Pistonhead's years but never posted. I have bought and sold every car I have owned on this site so thought it was about time to show you my car history. I am 24 years old and from lincoln. Excuse the poor quality of pictures I am more interested in driving cars than photographing them

1st Car was a black Corsa Sri 02 plate, Dont have any pics of that but was lowered big wheels etc etc.

2nd car was a 300 bhp corsa gsi turbo. 1 owner from new car and mint.

Had it 2 months and it ended up like this.

A lesson was learned that day.

I salvaged everything I could from the wreck and started again.

Managed to keep this one the right way up and kept it for a year.

I then turned 20 and recieved this for my birthday

Got it standard and did the usual cliosport mods. Brilliant little car tbh. I didnt plan to sell it but when a close freind of mine returned from a tour of afgan with 4k burning a hole in his pocket a deal was done.

I then bought an astra gsi turbo non runner and set about rebuilding it- What a fking ball ache it was never right.

It blew its expensive turbo and that was the last straw. I then swapped it for this horrendous looking zafira which was kept for 1 week and sold on. 322 bhp and the most laughable handling car imaginable.

A week later I swapped it for this impreza. Why people rave about these I will never know it was awful inside made an irritating noise and certainly didnt pull as well as the 275 bhp print out suggested. Good in the snow though!

With an m3 (my dream car) firmly set in my head it occured to me id never owned anything rwd and was keen not to stack an m3 as at my age doing that would leave me in 1.2's till im 30. With that in mind I bought a rx8. A truely average car with the constant worry of what if it goes bang. Still it got me used to rwd.

Then the time came to buy my e46 m3 and I havent stopped grinning from the day I picked it up. In 5 months of ownership I have spent a small fortune sorting the issues out and modding but been worth every penny. Its not perfect but it will be soon. Unless I get tempted by the ever decreasing prices of e92 m3's or m6's.

Oh and one of the bike.

Thanks to listening to my rambaling and whilst it may not be lambo's or ferrari's Im still young (ish) and hopefully they will come.

Very nice, being a big BMW addict i may be a bit biased, looks great with the csl wheels only thing i'm not sure about is the bonnet, but thats just my opinion and yes its no lambo etc but why would you want to down-trade anyway wink

So far, coilovers, ceaubou or however you spell it seat(the armchairs had to go) retrimmed to same black nappa as rest of the car, csl wheels, carbon bonnet, I have a csl bootlid waiting to go on. I will be removing the factory satnav etc and replacing it with a high end alpine double din and then installing some high end components.

Next purchase is going to be csl front bumper and diffuser and I'm toying with the idea of having it sprayed frozen grey. I'll run the csl's through winter and get some bbs splits for next summer. Possibly a bbk aswel as the standard brakes really let the car down. The list is virtually endless lol... Nothing too outlandish though. May just get an e92 or m6... Maybe even a csl!

I see tuning n/a engines as a pissing in the wind exersise tbh mate. As much as id love a csl airbox I can't see me spending 5k on one. If a supersprint or eisemann exhaust comes up at reasonable money I'll probally snap it up though

Nice history, built a few Turbo Corsas and Novas and always feared of crashing one they just fold up, very lucky to walk away.

Yeah tell me about it my dad was taking the whole thing to the scrap yard and I had to beg them to let me have it back. It was completely my fault and I was driving like a complete but in a strange way I think I needed somthing like that to happen 18n years old and 300 bhp in somthing as light as a corsa is a dangerous combo!

That 300bhp Corsa looks mental. Not so sure about the M3 though, those mods are definitely a bit 'Fast Car Magazine/Council Estate' for my liking...

They are csl bits :s bonnet looks alot better in person it's difficult to get the right light in pics. I wasn't sure on the bonnet at first but i think it helps make the front look a bit more aggressive if that makes sense?

How the hell did you get insurance!

Seeing as I'm the same age as you I'm not at all jealous wink I like the M3 a lot - not usually a massive fan of that sort of thing.

Insurance lol... I was paying over 3k for the corsa's which I know is ridicolous... However having these cars from an early age has a posative effect on the car I own now. I have 6 years no claims on high peformance cars. Which means at 23 I pay 1400 fully comp to insure a group 20 m3. No whilst you may think 1400 is a massive amount to spend on insurance, I have freinds paying more at my age on astra vxr's, s2000's, golf r32's and other mediocre hatch backs.

Oh and just an example, When I got my clio there was an issue with my insurance, I was quoted 1800 before I picked it up then when I rang back to insure they said they had been an error and they couldnt insure me on the car. A quick talk to the manager about my previous cars and after he rang my previous insurer to verify this the sum of a 'mere' 1100 was agreed.

Moral of the story? If coming from a peformance car always tell your insurance company upon getting a quote! It may well save you a small fortune.
