glass out ,glass in?

I have removed one of the rear side window today as it was falling out anyway.I took out the glass and bihind that was a rubber seal.I was led to understand that the windows where bonded in but this looks to be a pre made seal.Is it a pre made seal that glued/stuck in, then the glass bonded to that, then sealent to finish ,anyone know?
