Essex to Newcastle in the Sag
Discussion
Hi all
Just thought I would share my 600 odd mile drive gone on the weekend with you all. I recently had some upgraded mods carried out by the lads at Str8six, and now that all has run in and bedded in nicely I thought I would attend my mate's Stag party in Newcastle in style. Whilst all the others decided that King's Cross to Newcastle was the best option I decided that leaving Essex on a Friday night @ approx 6.00pm and getting to Newcastle for ????, well lets just say I was on time for the boys night out.
What's my point of this story, well simply to remind those of us who sometimes think about selling our Sag's, like myself just how capable these cars are. My Sag permored perfect with the ability to eat miles of tarmac up for breakfast.
Mods in case you are wondering are:
C/R Gearbox & Diff 3.7:1
Breaks: AP 6 Pots with Alloy Bells and 356 mm discs.
Bespoke exhaust manifolds and Clive Ford's Modded Back box for those special Tunnell Runs etc, etc.
As others have popsted on here in the past, I believe this is one of the best upgrades I have ever had on any of my TVR's. The car gets to 100+ mph so dam quick, but the best part of it all are those Breaks. Words can't do any justice to how good these breaks are.
Overall my journey has confirmed to me how special these cars are, and lets not even mention what happened in Newcastle Town Centre as the Sag pulled in and brought all to a stanstill.
Sags for ever.
P.s If any of you spot my car at Str8six this week, it's because it's having it's 12k service, and whilst in, who know's maybe a few more upgrades as you do. It would be rude not to.
As always a beautifull selection of ownners cars been worked on by the lads @ str8six not to mention a very, very clean Sag for sale, could not believe this Sag has 60k odd miles on the clock.
Did I forget to mention that I also had a great time on my mate's stag.
These TVR'S can be so good @ times that we forget all else!

I don't know wat Mr G is doing, but if you are local you can always have a go in mine. I am positive that the AP 6 pot system is probably one of the best brake upgrades for the Sag, assuming you are sticking to 18" alloys, not to mention how good they look.
Rules for test drive are you must be a current Sag owner and if you break it you pay for it.

Are the brakes on the Sagaris/t350's seen as a week area? I certainly have never had an issue with them
Yes and no. The brakes lack the feel of initial bite compared to our old Cerbera, but from the data logger, they stop it just as well and are easily capable of locking up the wheels... They're good, but I'd prefer slightly more feel and initial bite. I suspect this may be achieved by pads alone, but I am interested in Grahams findings all the same.
Hi Dean
I wouldn't go as far as saying that the Sag brakes are weak, it's just that this upgrade I have got matey transforms the car stopping capabilities so much and it brakes perfectly, controlled manner, straight line the lot. Never have I had some much fun breaking.
If you do the occasional Track day Dean you will love it mate. As stated before you are more than welcome to have a go Dean, then decide for yourself.

Top Post !
Just returned from the 4hr drive to Cadwell Park and I can agree totally wiht what you are saying about our Sags - they really eat the miles, quite comfortably, and aren't even that noisy cruising at several leptons (and that's de-catted with CliveF's back box !!!)
As regards the brakes, forgot to ask G about his, but for me as a complete track day novice, my standard Sag brakes with Red Stuff pads on performed admirably - I was really impressed - some serious braking at times, never locked up, never faded (but I am a novice!!!)

Make sure you keep the old diff! If you upgrade the engine the 3.4 diff is best, had my 3.4 put back in today and its much better
