After a wireless headset for Xbox 360 will be used for black ops, I have been told the X41 are good by a person on here. Anybody else got any thoughts?

Thanks

I have the X11, and they are very good. X41 is the wireless version, I imagine they'll be even better.
I couldn't justify paying that much for them though, and the wired ones come with a 5-6m cable so plenty enough not to be restrictive!

I have the X11 but I get really bad interference because I use a wired controller which is the problem, seeing as I use a Razer Onza TE for Black ops the only solution seems to buy a wireless headset.

Another thumbs up for the X41s.

Can't fault 'em.

Expensive, but you get what you pay for.

ShopTo seem to be one of the cheapest for them. There were a couple of other cheaper sites but I hadn't heard of them.

to be fair though i just spent £270 on a set of wireless Astro A40s (inc MixAmp, delivery, spare battery etc) and they arent really multichannel (speakers) either.

I liked my TB X41's. Great for latenight gaming, i only upgraded to the Astro's as i fancied a change.. plus i;'ll be able to use the comm's on my ps3 now aswell as the xbox. but for a single console only i'd recommend the TB's deffo.. and for £85 quid (ShopTo) probably a no brainer (mine cost alot more than that new and even then i felt were worth the money for my late night gaming when the proper surround sound is a no go)

What about the X31's

Also wireless and sound wise they are great. I've tried the X41's and the difference in sound quality (IMHO) is not worth the extra outlay over the 31's.

X31's can be found from about £52 brand new online depending on where you shop...

(not used them myself but they seem to get good customer reviews online)

then go for the x41's (surround sound) over the 31's (stereo).. you'll be glad you did when youve pinpointed someone sneaking up behind you in cod

Here's a link helped me out allot while looking for a decent headset Link.

Nice setup StormLoaded. Literally just got my own decent setup but opted for the Astro MixAmp with the Sennheiser PC 360 headset which seems pretty good up to now.

I have the 31's and the sound difference is alot lower than you might think, very rarely do you get caught out unless the bd is using ninja or stationary in a bush as you run past. You can still clearly tell which direction people are shooting from as most of the games have pretty good stereo mapping.

Tried both out, see absolutely no reason to trade to X41's.

Ah nice one, yeah i saw that review myself when having a good search around smile
your senn's get good reviews everywhere, decided on the astro headset as i wasnt really sure which way to go.. can always upgrade anyway at some stage, its the MixAmp thats the genius bit biggrin

Need to spend some time setting mine up, its proving a bit of a pain to get running right.

Did you have any issues with your MixAmp? ..

It was either running in 2 channel (ish) or there was an obscene amount of delay (when changing tv/ps3 settings)!

I couldnt win.
eg. 2 channel (Amp showed : PCM 48KHz); i could walk to the edge of the map, turn my back on the action and it was all peaceful (no gunfire, birds chirping.. a lovely sunny day in the countryside).. then turn my character around and all hell is breaking lose right behind me (chopper out, grenades and gunfire going off right by me!).. really ****** up.

I changed ps3 settings to "auto" rather than set defined to DD (as the manual suggested, with PCM still off on tv for passthrough) and this sorted out the surround so i could hear in 360degrees, but that introduced a shed load of audio lag.. where firing your pistol, the gun would flash and had settled after the recoil before i would hear it shoot!!.. just cant play like that..
I guess you dont get any audio lag with your MixAmp? or from your PS3? > there's no real delay noticeable with the xbox.. seems to be the ps3.. but then i dont believe the xbox is running full DD either tbh (Amp shows PCM despite having xbox audio settings set to DD).. something isnt right with it so i need to look at those settings as well... grumpy

I'm running PS3,XBox and PC all via HDMI into the TV, and optical out to the MixAmp, then optical out of that to AMP.. was hoping this would provide me with an all in one solution with the astros so late night i can game or watch tv in surround sound.. so all i'd need to do is switch the tv to whatever im playing and i wouldnt have to touch the amp/headset it would just work .. but its not looking good at the moment.

It's def passing through 5.1 now from the ps3 (as the amp shows the info) but just badly delayed, which now looks to be possibly the passthrough from the plasma.

> my plasma is an LG (50pk590) which reading up on it, it looks like down the years this has been an issue (delay introduced from optical out) with many LG sets so i'm guessing its the same thing with mine(as opposed to a delay introduced from the MixAmp to process the sound into DD, and then send wirelessly) ..

Looks like there's a recent software update available for my plasma though, so will download/install and try once again, really praying this sorts out my issues frown .. i dont much fancy digging out my old optical switch ..(and running dedicated optical cables from each bit of equipment directly to the switch/MixAmp).. kinda defeats the object of going all nice and techno when you have to get off your arse to switch cables/manually do stuff! biggrin

Hmmm. Does sound like the TV is giving you the problem & I couldn't say anything about the Xbox (never had one). Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the PS3 didn't output true DD through the HDMI cable (despite the manual making it look like it does). I know what your saying about the optical switch BUT that way is definatly the way I'd do things, that way you know the MixAmp is getting the true signal & I think the TV will probably change the signal to it's own preferences before sending it out again (possibly). Didn't know about the recommendations from the MixAmp either but luckily I only set the PS3 to output DD anyway.

For now though, connect the MixAmp directly from the PS3 via the optical cable to see if that fix's the problem. If it does then it's defo the TV.

Sennheiser PC 360 verdict. A bit hard for me to review it when I've nothing but the Theatre 5.1 to compare it to. The sound quality is amazing, almost every sound has an extra thud to it, very clear. The only 2 problem's I've found up to now is, I thought I'd hear footsteps allot louder than what I do because in all honesty the Theatre done a pretty good job of that anyway. When I'm not moving on FFA I can hear lots of movement and have a general idea where people are BUT when there's allot of other noise like air support or noob tubes I've got no chance of hearing any footsteps more than a meter or 2 away. It's a shame really as that's mainly why I bought them, is that the same for you? (when it's working). Secondly, when I'm on with fellow PH'ers I have to up the voice volume up to hear them a little clearer but then the in game volume suffers but that should be a case of finding the right balance.
