Are they supposed to put camera warning signs out on the hard shoulder or is it optional?
Driving to Cardiff this morning on the M4, spotted a police car well hidden catching the east bound traffic near the new severn bridge.
So when i came back my passenger took a pic of the hiding place with my camphone. It's just as you get to the start of the new bridge, very well hidden, you honestly cant see it as you're approaching at 70mph.
We had the phone camera ready and snapped it as it came into view, didnt even realise there was another police car there untill the last second! and we were looking hard to find the same spot as we saw them at in the morning.
It's a very poor quality pic , but you can see the striped people carrier type police car hiding behind the hedge and the uniformed guy is pointing a device at oncoming traffic.
Jesus! They must catch every vehicle leaving Wales at 80mph or more. OK so most of us know it's a hotspot but there are millions who dont.
Just thought it was so unfair, as there really is no warning of them there. I wouldnt have seen them if i hadnt spotted them from the other cariageway in the morning.
Is it police policy to hide behind hedges on motorways?
One thing i do know is they must be raking in a fortune from that site, but unfortunately not contributing to road safety at all IMO.
Hope the pic works...

Im in lane one, the railing is the start of the bridge.
As you approach, all you can see are the bushes to the left of the police car.

If this was a scamera, it gives the lie to claims from the police that, "It's not us, it's the SCP." and does nothing to mend the increasingly broken relationship between the police and the motoring public.

It might be that the BiB in question was only booking vehicles travelling above (say) 90mph - which would be a "BiB thing" to do. Perhaps we'll hear from one or two drivers who were booked yesterday and learn at what speeds they were booked.

You're having a laugh aren't you?

We daren't do 80 in Wales.

Next time you cross the bridge into "motoring hell" (and you have to pay to get in!)see if you notice everybody's speed drop to around 75. Be happy you don't live here!

but you have some loovvlly open roads with nice open sweeping bends, no problem at all to do 80-90 safely.

Not been to Wales for some years but thanks for the warnings

Nasty welsh police ....mate of mine got done for 73mph on the motorway!!
...I'm sure we could suggest an alternative meaning for 'heddlu cyrmu'

I've seen a similar thing back home too - on the A303 near Illminster a police speed trap almost completelty obscurred by bushes, pulled into a farm gateway next to a very straight, very open, free flowing dual carriageway.

I hope the Welsh tourist board reads this.

Wales is off limits, I'll spend my money elsewhere thanks. Oh and Blackpool and the lake district too. Cameras, vote with your wallet. em!
