E46 330ci tyre help

I have only had the car for a few days and am looking at getting some winter tyres, that aside, i have found that i have 225/40/18 on the front and 225/35/18 on the rear. It seems that from sites like Kwikfit (i know ), that the recommended rears would be 255/35/18 - do i have the wrong tyres on the rear?

edit* The winter 225/35/18's seem rare or expensive hence my question

You have the wrong tyres. They're supposed to be 255 on the back.

With winter tyres, you're better off running a square set-up (225 all round) as wider tyres - even winter ones - will still impede your progress compared to a narrower section width equivalent.

Cheers for that, they are newish tyres on the back too which is a shame. It might explain the vague handling at speed too.
