Maxsport RB5 Tyre - anyone run them?
Discussion
What do you think of them?
And what compound do you run?
Here they list soft, medium and hard compounds: http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/Search.do?method=del...
But these guys only list soft and medium compounds: http://www.maxsport.uk.com/acatalog/Maxsport_RB5_T...
Thinking for road use, but maybe occasional track use too.

They are very heavy and of variable compound
How do you mean? Are they heavier than other semi slicks? And do you mean the compound varies within a tyre or from tyre to tyre of the same claimed compound?thinfourth2 said:
Oh and its a remould
Looks like it'd be utterly terrifying in the wet.

Anyone else? Take these aren't popular with PH'ers?
not expensive so must be sAnyone else? Take these aren't popular with PH'ers?
t.They are a tarmac rally tyre so are pretty heavily built. Alot of folk i know tried them on elises and they complained about them having inconsistent compunds amoungst tyres. i tried them on a caterham and the extra wieght made it feel like the car had its nuts cut off.
If you can afford an experiment then try it but don't expect them to be brilliant.
If its for trackdays go look at secondhand slicks but slicks can cause alot of stress to the car due to the grip but on a caterham they were great as i had a dry sump etc.
Google (the PH search function is still useless) brought up a few references:
