Inline V6 arrangement
Discussion
Hi folks, wonder if you could throw some enlightenment my way if you please.
Is it possible to use the later 24V 3.0/3.2 V6's inline? Do they require an earlier 75 sump and pickup to work like that? Straight swap?
Am i correct in thinking that in all the later engines the coolant pipes exit from the gearbox end of the engine as opposed to the timing belt end of the earlier engines?
What are these engines like for handling forced induction and is upgrading them with stronger internals costly? The prices for the engines themselves seem pretty decent.
Many thanks,
Olie

Not certain about much of your post except the coolan does exit the engine at the gearbox end!
Might want to consider;
Engine is canted rearwards - so would tilt to right (drivers side). Could be quite tall if stoood up straight.
mainfolds exit to the rear at 90 degrees to crank. Maybe a side exit exhaust would be cool? 8-)
Guys on alfa forum have put then in Lancia Stratos replicas, so still transverse. They might have some useful tips anyway.

Fair point on the engine tilt.
It would be fitted to an audi box with an adapter plate so will probably be able to level it out but would then probably need a custom sump and pick up. Cheers.
Plan is to have it SC'd so the inlet won't be a problem.
It's that or i just go for an Audi lump, but then that wouldn't sound anywhere near as good
