Sorry if anyone thinks this is old ground butI thought I would start a new post for information because there is still comments happening on other threads. So just read and be happyjesterbeer

The vote was offered up and although no alternatives were suggested by me in the vote, it was for somewhere else or stay at EC. Not the best way to have a vote (without alternatives) but time was important. I looked at 9 places, all looked good innitially, but then went down hill for one reason or another. Narrowed it down to 3, then it dropped to 1.

It is very difficult to find somewhere else with all the right attributes, the one I ended with, still had couple of things to iron out. But with booking so many rooms even this far in advance, it needs to be done sooner rather than later. I would hate to wait a while to find the new place isn't quite right, only to find we lose out on EC also. I have just spoken to The Park Hall Hotel (Sue) and thanked them for their offer but said no thank you but maybe 2013.

There has been no more votes and the thread not opened since the 2nd Sept. So although it was extremely close, (I would liked to have seen more votes) we have to honour the voting system. Some will be happy, some not I guess. I personally am happy either way.

Poll: Where is best for BBWF 12.
Total Members Polled: 52
Ettington Chase: 52%
Somewhere Else: 48%

So without sounding to harsh or bossy (sorry if it does)

We will be back at EC next year if it's still available, with a possible change the 2013.
I hope I'm not speaking out of turn, but on another thread, Andy (Mrtank) said he would be happy to sort out EC again. I proposed that and there has been no objections (not even from MrT) so I will give my full support and help and I think Adam and Mark (zig) will too.

So please no comments on what could have been, or what we should have done, the vote said no. Lets focus on what positives we can do next year

any complaints or objections, then see me in the playground after schoolpunch

That sounds fine, the next thing we need is a date!

I have even got permission to go from swmbo - it did cost me a long weekend skiing though.

I've been in contact with EC to reserve rooms and agree a date, and they are telling me the rates have increased dramatically due to the Olympics - maybe people booking into the wrong Stratford??, and they won't be able to hold the rooms as they have in previous years. I've asked them to let me know what the deal is but they are coming back to me. Told them the Wedge guys will likely be booking also so lets see what they come back with.
My preference is 4/5 August as the Siverstone Classic is provisionally 20-22nd July.

Cool. Decision made (except for date).

We will just have to inform Ettington that we intend hosting a mini olympics there..And it will be televised..(Well the late night boxing will)..There will be a relay race..(Just relays..No fuses)..The long jump..(If the girls are willing)..The shot put..(You can put that shot in my glass)..A swimming relay..(Just throw one in the pool)..The high jump..(I will endeavour to clear the bar)..And the scotts will be bringing the olympic flame..(The rusty)..sorted..Ziga

Hi

I have just been looking at dates for BBWF!

As you no doubt know the Olympics are from 27th July to 12th Aug and the par-olympics are from 29th Aug to the 9th Sept.

The Griff people are looking at 4/5 August
The Silverstone Classic is 20-22 July
The British GP is 8th July

So that leaves us dates of:
29/30 June.
13/14 July.
17/18 Aug.

I suggest either 29/30 June or 17/18 Aug.

I will ask the Chase tomorrow for either of those dates and see what the come up with!

EC gets my vote ..

Must try and get the SEAC there in 2012 smile

EC are right about Olympic bookings .. it's people down south trying to get away from it !

My local pub in London (Mitre - off Hatten Garden) has a sign out side declaring it an Olympic free zone.

Please dont have it in August ..... especially if you want to maximize the attendance.

I dont need to remind you that August is holiday time especially if you have kids.

Hi

Just spoken to the chase (Took most of the day to get the correct person)

Following the discussion the date has been provisionaly booked for BBWF as Fri 29th and Sat 30th of June. This is a month before the Olympics so they can't see a problem! They will confirm date and rates in the next couple of days (Hopefully before the weekend)

I will start a new post once we have conformation of date and rates!

I thought flaming June was due to hot weather

From my flying days I remember June supposedly was the driest month
(and drier than July or August)

Can't be any wetter than our drive down from the North this year

Cheers
