A few cars from my motoring past

Obviously being 24, I havne't been driving very long but I still thought i'd share a few cars from my past and also a few that my folks have had that I have also used on a regular basis:
I started off with a 1.3 Peugeot 205 and then a couple of Rovers and ended up buying a 2001 Freelander for my 18th birthday, but then after that I started taking pics of the cars i bought:
1.4 mk1 phase 2 Clio:
An absolute beater that wouldn't die - I hated it but loved it at the same time!
I then traded the renault for a 2.9 1989 Jaguar Sovereign:
I absolutely loved this car, it was underpowered, thirsty, had eleventy million electrical issues but still made me smile when it would actually start!
Then swung the jag into a tree and ended up giving it to a builder in return for some decking work being done around our pond and I bought a 2001 2.0 VW Bora:
I actually loved the car even if it was boring as hell, everything just worked and it was the most modern car i've ever owned - but then got made an offer I couldn't refuse:
straight swap for a 1990 ABF'd 2.0 16v VW corrado in nugget yellow! the best car i've ever owned!
Again, a list of issues longer than my arm and I went through 3 driveshafts in as many months - but every drive was an occasion! Just a shame it spend more time on a flat bed than on the road!
I ended up having to cut my losses and did a temporary trade for a 1.8t Audi A4, again, in Yellow:
A great car, ran smooth and was cheap but it was only ever meant as a stop gap until I found the car I actually wanted - which was this 2001 Mercedes-Benz E320 cdi Avantgarde:
This is it on one of the many sets of wheels I went through on the car. I also had a minor scrape with a wall so thought i'd use the time to get the whole front end resprayed and get the rusty arches replaced, so the week before I sold it on, it looked like this:
(minus the roof box, that was for a group holiday)
I then decided that I wanted something a bit different and smaller/cheaper to run so I went and bought a brand new BMW 118d Sport 3-door hatch - but it was far to boring, so I ripped out all the suspension, took off the wheels and awful run flats and fitted fully adjustable coilovers (wound all the way down) and set of BBW CH wheels in 18x8:
And then, after a year of ownership, and a lot of thinking, i decided to get rid of the 1er and get the car i've wanted for so long - my current car - a 2003 W215 MB CL500:

Thanks! The Jag was involved in probably one of the slowest crashes of all time - hit a mini roundabout at about 15 mph in the ice and weight caused the car to pendulum out of control into a tree... didn't actually do much damage to the car at all, just a bit of rear panel damage.

I loved the CH's on the 1-series - I think they really finished off the car!

That 1 series looked awesome, BBS CHs would have been my top choice, either those or BBS LMs, both absolutely gorgeous. Really like your CL500 too, has it been lowered slightly? Looks like it has a meaner stance than standard!

The Jag was kind of funny, the builder's van was knackered and he said how he always wanted one so I kind of thought about for a day, and then when the decking was finished I just gave him the keys haha! I miss that car though, it was so unreliable but also fantastic!

yeah if that 1er also had the red leather interior and was a 130i I would be nursing more than a semi right now And some more wheel perving ... I LOVE the look of the BBs CH's on the 1 searies that thing looked awesome.

I really wanted a 130i but the benefits of the 118d were plentiful, even if it was a little slow! I had the half leather sports seats, but also wish i'd got the red leather ones!Edited by vsonix on Friday 30th September 22:42
