I've always changed cars in a short period of time, 8 in 7 years now, but my current Mondeo i've had for 12 months next week, and was looking at getting something different (again lol). The mondeo isnt as comfortable as i'd like and it lets too much light in which annoys me. Maybe i should go buy a van.

Anyway, everything i want or wanted, i hate. I dislike convertibles and small hatchbacks. The only possibilities for me are an estate, a large 4x4 or an exec saloon. I need something newer than 5 years old (approx).

The A4 is very average. I like the E90 3 series, but trying to find an M Sport for under £10k which hasn't been to the moon and isn't a 318/316 is a little harder. I love the new C Class but they are over priced. Likewise for the range rover sport and Jag XF.

The normal Range Rover is an option, but again, these all have sky high mileages. The Volvo V50 isnt bad i guess. The octavia is ugly from the front, even the VRS. I used to adore the Disco3 but im now put off by it's ugly front end. Dont like the new Mondeo, mazda, avensis, passat etc.

And i cant afford a VXR8. :/

Damn biggrinbiggrin

Test-drive a V50 - they are a great place to sit and alright to drive.

I find that cars take me by surprise.

Not that long ago I bought a 16 year old Micra with the CVT transmission for £270.

I absolutely loved pottering around in it and miss it every day.

I used to have a 3.2 V6 Alfa GTV, which I was pretty indifferent about. But the much cheaper and supposedly inferior 2.5 V6 156 that replaced it has been one of my favourite cars.

By and large, the pleasure that I have derived from cars has been inversely proportional to their purchase cost.

I suppose that the really cheap cars have exceeded my modest expectations of them, whereas the expensive ones have failed to justify their extra cost.

3 cars by choice this year since january, 6 in 3 years. I get bored of them, but miss them once they're gone.

The problem I have is I just can't decide what to replace them with.

I had a 1993 Micra and miss it every day too. Bought it off a family friend for £600 with only 20,000 on the clock and it was a fantastic little car. Really regret getting rid of it now as it'll still probably be going strong and would have been a great shed car.

The "less than 5 years old" thing is restricting you. If there were no age limit just imagine wht you could get for £10,000!

I like my cars to be dark inside. I suppose i could get the rear windows tinted but that just looks stupid unless it's on an estate.

Get an E90 without all the M badges and with suspension that moves over bumps instead of through them.

Never a problem for me. There's plenty of stuff made before the year 2000 so not strangled by modern design limitations and emissions regs. Without fail, every single new car I've looked at in the last 3 years under 20K has left me cold.
