Winter Tyre choice for ML55 AMG

Trying to find suitable tyres for the ML55, currently on 285 50 18s but cant find winter tyres in this size. Would I be correct in thinking that 255 60 18s would keep the circumference about the same, as if I can fit these, there is more choice. I thought about fitting 17" alloys for the winter, but have been told these would foul on the larger AMG calipers.
