Logitech G25 steering wheel opinions

Hi guys,

I will be getting a PS3 shortly and the two games I will mostly be playing is F1 2010 and GT 5.
I therefore want to buy a good steering wheel. I have read that the G25 is the best one currently out there and love the fact that it has a clutch pedal too.

However, a quick google search for any known faults revealed that the wheel can become 'off-centred' after a short while of driving with it. Does anyone have this wheel? and have you experience any such thing?

General opinions on this wheel will also be appreciated.

Had mine for nearly 18 months now and use it regularly. Never had any problems with it. Works really well with gt5 and other games. Ps you should get F1 2011, its leagues ahead if 2010.

The G25 is FAR from the best wheel you can get, what is your budget?

Bought a G25 when I first got into PC racing games and, in all honesty, found it nothing but one big ball ache having to create different profiles for different games etc, so sold it for more than double what I paid and bought a Logitech DFP for 30 quid, absolutely superb bit of kit. The G25 is slightly better than the DFP, however the one major advantage are the pedals, they are lightyears ahead of what the DFP has in terms of feel and progression. Fanatec wheels are nice, maybe give them a look too?

Really? Ok, I am interested to know of other better ones. I dont mind spending upto £200 but for that price I would want a clutch pedal is well.

(You can spend a lot, lot more on these things but the G27 is the top end of the "budget" stuff I believe)

It's overall a good wheel, but it's not perfect.
One thing to be aware of is that the gearbox/clutch doesn't really work in GT5, and for this reason I always end up using the flappy paddles.
Nice feel though, nice feedback. Well worth the £100 i paid and of course fully customisable and functional on PC games.

Could you expand on the gearbox/clutch not working so well in GTF issue?
I have some seen some clips on youtube with drivers using the clutch and gear shift quite well on other racing sims. They were able to heal and toe without problems too. This video is one such example:

With a budget of £200 Fanatec stuff won't be right for you unfortunately.

I'd go for the G27 personally!

So am I, £100 as it happens. But having just a wheel won't work, he'll need pedals and the shifters which granted are under £100 if you don't get the clubsports.

Yup.
It's a problem with the G25 not being officially supported by GT5. The clutch pedal works as a digital switch rather than a 'clutch' ,and as you drive it's very easy to end up in an open neutral between gears. It then takes an age to reset the gearstick, re-engage the clutch and get it to pick up a gear again. It's also much slower. All this when you have some ace flappy paddles offering excellent instant gear change at your fingertips!

Perhaps with a tonne of practice you can overcome it's issues, but it's really not worth it.

Yeah they don't seem to be worth much more to be honest mate, it's a shame really!

If I didn't have my GT2 there is no way I'd sell it!

I have had mine a fews years now and dont regret it one bit, got it 2nd hand off ebay, never had an issue with it, only use it on gt5 its great, clutch changes are great as long as you come off the gas or it will go neutral, they did this as people were flat shifting. Great fun drifting on it

Aaah that explains the grief me and a mate were having, found the braking to be especially bad also. I couldn't beleive how much worse it felt than the PC sims.

So all in all should the G25 or G27 be the wheels I be aiming for for under £200 or should i go for the very basic driving force GT?

I will primarily be playing F1 2010 or F1 2011.
