Sold the car (1999, Golf TDi) last week, buyer rings and we agree 12 today to collect. I texted him address on Monday - no reply, rang him yesterday, left a message - no reply, rang this morning - no reply - rang at 12:05 - no reply.

Now, he could have had some personal crisis, in which case fair enough. How long do I wait though? I was planning on relisting it tonight - am I too hasty?

Do it, its going to take a few days to flog anyway. If you have sold it and he gets in touch tell him the engine exploded or some nonsense.

Because eBay doesn't protect sellers it's all too common these days to have this happen. I've sold the same car two weeks running, hopefully it will go this time, and each time they don't show. The car had 2 months MOT and the first requested we MOT the car which we did and then didn't show.
No wonder so many people end the listing early. If ive got a buyer nailed on I'll do the same knowing how unreliable people are.

Just checked the buyer's feedback - he's done this before but the guy left him positive feedback?!?!?!?!? Hence me not noticing it!

You can't leave negative feedback for a Buyer...so that's why posititve was left with a comment warning people.

You can't leave neg feedback for purchasers now. It's against their human rights, apparently.

Ebay is a fking shower, no two ways about it. They have it sewn up that anyone using the site to sell goods is reamed to within an inch of their life; hence the inordinate amount of oxygen thieves it attracts.

Unfortunately they have the market cornered.

Yes, the buyer can leave negative feedback but you cannot seem to respond in kind. Happened recently when I sold a car to a trader. I basically gave the car away (I didn't want to pay £7 for a reserve and needed to sell in hurry) yet when he turned up he haggled the price down further still. After the sale he kept bothering me complaining about the wheel bearing. This is on a £500 car. The car was MOT'd shortly before the auction - surely if the wheel bearing was a problem it would have never passed its MOT and would have been noticeable on test drive? How can I take responsibility for how he drove, and how many potholes he hit, after buying the car? That said I recon he was making it up and doubt it will be the last time. While his feedback looks 100% its only when you look at the feedback he has left other people you can tell he is a chancer - any car he has won he has left bad feedback finding fault with the car. This has ruined my feedback rating which I've been building up for the past 5 or 6 years. In the future I will use Pistonheads classifieds, Gumtree, local papers etc in preferance to Ebay.

I agree. I sold a car on Gumtree a few weeks ago. First to view bought it. Today, I sold a fax machine, again to the first caller. E-Bay is on the slide IMHO.

I agree eBay is on the way down but I don't like gumtree. I feel as a buyer there's too many scam ads so as a seller it would put me off.

Car and classic for me every time. Gumtree attracts to many buyers from Nigeria and for every genuine eBay buyer there are half a million pilocks.

Can you sell anything on there? I've sold my cortina and a couple of other cars but wouldn't dream of putting car parts on there.

A lot of stuff that doesn't sell on eBay goes on here because if you look there chances are you know what you're looking for. smile
