May be a silly question, My sis has decided she wants a Mini, A lot of the one's I've seen for sale have Run Flats on them,

Question, do you have to replace them like for like with another set of run flats or can you replace with ordinary tyres, Is the wheel different in any way ?

Thanks

Normal tyres can be fitted without issue, only thing you will have to consider is what if she gets a flat.......

If you do switch to standard tyres, swap all four.

You can replace them with normal tyres.

But, the prevailing thought is that all 4 should be changed together.
The difference between RFs and normal tyres can be quite significant on different axles.

If you don't have run flats anymore you may need to get a can of tyre weld and an electric pump.
I'm not sure if that's part of the MOT/Law anymore, but I think the AA or GreenFlag have some smallprint about it.
Also, it'll help to have something if you get a flat in the arse end of nowhere with no phone reception.

Thanks all.

Green Flag don't, AA do get fussy about it,

IMO, I'd go with whichever I could get the better tyre at better cost, if by some freak miracle I found good tyres that were runflats at a better cost than equivalent I'd run with them.

Green Flag have some smallprint – because I read it recently.

From memory it's something like
"If your car was equipped with a spare tyre (including spacesaver) and jack you must have them with you in the car. You may be charged for recovery if you do not have your spare wheel and we can not repair you car at the roadside."
I have no idea how this reflects on swapping out runflats.

My worry was that she was going to get stung for the cost of run flats, but looks like there is not a lot in the price, so not such a worry.. I was under the misguided view they were expensive

BMW will sell you a emergency wheels/space saver, but don't think there is a compartment in the boot for it to sit, IIRC.
