In my top five favourite films of all time; the shootout scene is absolutely epic. Great choice of music for the ending scene too.

Great film. Can anyone remember the original film this was based on, about NY cops iirc.

If you're a Heat fan, you should see it, slightly different scenario, but with the exact same twists and turns.

I think C4 ran them back to back some years ago.

LA Takedown I believe. Also a good film.

TV film also by Michael Mann, many scenes the same, but quite a bit shorter.

'Al Pacino' character drives a Buick Grand National as well

It was really interesting doing a "compare and contrast" between the two films. Heat was so much more polished and you could see the extra depth Pacino and De Niro brought to their respective roles.

Yup I've watched both and remember thinking that Heat was a much better overall film (though LA Takedown is pretty good), but that may be because I was a Heat fan long before watching LA Takedown.

It is just one of the best set piece action scenes in a movie ever isn't it? Very well staged and filmed (God knows how many cameras were running), the sound recording is just incredible as the gunfire echoes off of the LA skyscapers, and the score just builds and builds, piling on the tension until Pacino shoots Sizemore to end it!

I believe Andy Mcknab was involved in staging the scene and instructing the actors in how to handle weapons. Val Kilmer has never been better and Pacino and De Niro - nothing more need be said - just brilliant.

Still my favourite film of all time.

Probably seen it twenty times plus.
