The time of year is upon us when we think about hitting the beach, I've certainly enjoyed the last 2 Pie on the Beach days the question is do we want a 3rd?

If we do it'll be later in the year again as was the first one, and I have a couple of plans for new venue's (although one isn't by the beach ).

Don, do we want to get together for a and discuss?

Sounds good to me mate.
Cuzza was just mentioning the other day that we should have another.

I'll be willing to help out too and having a beer one sunny evening whilst planning sounds good to me

Yes why not. I'm up for doing the "web marketing" again and will arrange a convoy drive for the Hampshire PHers who'd like to go....

Tell you what, Mark. E-Mail me through my profil when you get a minute with your plans for what to do at your end.

I reckon a longer drive from a different pub than "The Ship" would be a good plan. Still probably end-up by the seaside eventually, though.

Usual route down from the 'stoke Leisure centre for us North Hants / Surrey people, perhaps...

I lead Big Al through some good roads in my area which lead from Fareham to Basingstoke.
They are relatively traffic free too.

Can I help with the planning?

As far as I'm concerned you may most certainly help! I'm more than happy to do my usual bit...the web pages, directions and so on...

But scouting out stop off points, scenic roads, pubs and so on....I'd say Mark would welcome any and all help offered!

Certainly would Don!

I'll drop a mail to you next week, unfortunately work is taking too much time this week. One plan I do have though is to ask the council for free parking, it seems they can do this (so I've been told) I've also been offered free use of a local pub garden opposite the beach, with gas BBQ should we require it.

Where's the start point?

I can think of some great roads for the South Hants lot get from, say Meon Hut to Hayling but I'm not too sure about further north.

DustyC - it's recce time

For the North Hants peeps we have been using the first car park on the left after entering the Basingstoke leisure centre. Nobody seems to mind as we set off shortly after gathering and it does cause a good deal of staring/hilarity on the part of the locals...

Last year the Surrey Runners (led by the ever able jeremyc) joined us...

For peeps more local to the South parts of Hants different start points evolved but everyone met up altogether at the Ship for a final convoy with all participating.

It'd be nice to do something similar.

Now we need a date.

I vote for the first weekend in September after the August Bank Holiday....on the Sunday. What do people think?

Sounds good - out of main holiday time so more people should be about and it will be a bit quieter too hopefully.

Early september weather is normally quite good :temptsfate:

5th or 12th September Don.
Personally prefer the 12th as I am on holiday the week preceding the 5th and may not be back.

Be careful with early September as it may clash with Brighton Speed Trials, usually the first of second Saturday of the month.

Yep, the 12th is a Sunday.
The 5th is part of the Goodwood Revival weekend.

Was just talking to Mrs HH the other day - 12th September is better for us, albeit with hangovers after a 40th Birthday bash in London (Youngs Brewery Tour etc, etc) and I think the 5th is Le Surrey Run II.

Cheers

HH.
