According to Ford:

"The 2011 Ford F-250 is mostly stock, with changes to the high-pressure fuel pump, fuel injectors and turbochargers for more fuel flow. The compression ratio was also modified."

These things are insane and with a bit of tweaking they will develop gobs of power. Insane.

I wouldn't call that "almost stock"; it's not as if you can alter the compression ratio just by turning a screw somewhere. And how exactly can modifying the turbos give you more fuel flow?

I don't think those wheels are original equipment either. hehe

I don't care what they are, they're still a modification. smile

I suspect it had wing mirrors originally too.

Sounds like a similar kind of level of mods, yes.

The front of that thing is hideous!

Much respect for making it go 182mph though!

You're hard to please, apparently. The point is that the engine is internally unchanged (stock bottom end), but only has different turbos, injectors, and fuel pump. What other heavy duty truck weighing god knows how much can be made to go that fast with just those changes?

If the bottom end is stock, how have they changed the compression ratio? Surely that must mean either different pistons or a different crank/rods? Well, or a different head, I suppose.

Shaved head, most likely.

So all they're basically saying, is that the bottom end is quite strong. smile

If they're running lots more boost, which they will be, you tend to lower CR. You don't do that by skimming the head.
Spacer between head and block?

I was referring to the changing of the ratio, but diesel trucks run ridiculous boost, some can compound charge past triple digit PSIs. Not this one, I believe, but it can also be changed witn thick gaskets.

Brent Hajek, the bloke who built it reckons the changes increased both the power and torque of the standard engine by 50% to 800bhp and 1600lb-ft. Although lots of sites report the change in compression ratio, I can't find any that say how it was achieved.

You should stop by some diesel forums, it's surprisingly easy to get ridiculous power out of these monsters through huge boost.

Some nuts actually shoved big diesels into cars, such as this guy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lw9FTFlSsB0
