Vintage Omega repair
Discussion
I have a 1930s (I think, possibly 1920s) Omega in need of attention. Here's a rubbish phone pic:

I've always thought it was 1960s, but I think it is older than that now - the face almost exactly matches a 1926 Chronograph on www.omegavintage.com. I know the hands are different but I can remember the original hands being snapped off years ago before I first had it fixed locally, when it acquired new hands.
Can anyone recommend where to take it? There is Omega's Vintage store and service centre in Burlington Arcade - are they reliable, or is there anywhere cheaper? They intimated that any repair is likely to be at least £500, does that sounds right? And what sort of value would it have if restored and working?

Nice chronograph, the case/dial is reminiscent of the 1930's. The dial looks very clean, the colours are still clear, they normally fade with age, is it re-finished? The hands however, completely suck. The original hands would be similar to the model shown on your link.
With regard to repair, these guys are about the best. I think Omega send the older calibres here.

Thanks for tip, I'll give them a call.
The enamel is original as far as I know. It was once my grandfather's but I only recall it used to live in a drawer of broken stuff in my dad's tool cupboards when I was young, non-working and with no glass. The hands were indeed exactly like the ones linked, but a reprobate friend of my younger brother snapped them off when they were teenagers. I had it fixed locally a few years ago, and that's when those new hands were fitted. It only kept going for six months or so after that repair, but it would be nice to make it work again.
