Has anyone seen Transporter 2? That sort of thing he has in his Audi where you have to enter a code the be able to start the engine, wondering if anything like that exists?
Peugeot had that for years! My Sister's old 306, an "N" Reg, had a numeric keypad that required a 4 digit code to be entered before it would start. BMW also had the option, on cars with the trip computer, to enter a 4 digit code when leaving the car, and you had to re-enter it upon returning and trying to start the car. The first BMW I seen that on was an '85 5 Series. It's not new technology, but I'm not too sure if it can be fitted "aftermarket"??As others have already said PSA cars had these in the mid and late 90s. The Xantia used to have one too, good thing about it was that if you stalled it you didn't have to re-enter the code. You only had to enter it if the engine had been off for more than 30 seconds or something.
Always did wonder why they stopped fitting them, especially now that most cars are stolen when the keys are stolen. Stealing the keys would be pretty pointless if you didn't know the code.
Does anyone know for definate why they stopped fitting them?

Generally because if they've stolen the keys, there's a far higher risk of them going back and beating you for the code also. Far better that they just drive it away.
