possible 1/4 mile strip in west lothian

a wealthy friend of mine is looking to open up a 1/4 mile strip n west lothian at the site of the old bangour hospital site in time for the summer of 2012. it will be a members only affair with selected public Sundays. this will not be a money making scheme for him but a labour of love. it will have timing equipment and stewards. the details planning have not been sorted out yet but i thought i would get some opinions and ideas om this possible proposal.
There's also one being proposed in Ayrshire... have a look in the Scottish section in the thread title "Crail Accident" as there's more information there. Be interested to know more about these 'members' and these public days... if he's doing it for the love, who gets to join and will Joe Public get in and run for free, or will it be a donation or a fee to cover his costs?

it will be done with online membership with a cut of at whatever he decides. members will have access to strip on Saturdays and Sundays though out summer. and public days profits will go into subsidising membership costs. or something like that ha ha

Annually with unlimited use on the weekends? Or would it be restricted to say 10 weekends a year or something like that? Lots of variables to consider I suppose. Personally I find drag racing a bit tedious, ok couple of times a year for a bit of a laugh or a grudge match but not something I'd do regulary. Sounds a bit erm... hmmmm... to me to be honest.

Just had a look on Google maps (satelite) and there doesn't seem to be any suitable pre-existing area on the site that could host a quarter mile, so unless he's starting from scratch but then I'd be interested to see how he gets on with the planning application. Plus, would it not mnake sense to use an existing runway... for instance Crail, East Fortune, Kirknewton and so on? Seems like a rather big venture for "the love"
