What could happen

Hi. just found this website and found it quite interesting so i wondered if any one could advise me on the following. recently someone spotted me coming off the corner of a recreation ground after a community sports day (not near the football or cricket pitch, just grass). i was the last car (as i stayed to talk to friends) off the field and had my music up. Due to this i miss timed the revs and the wheels started spinning to which i applied the brakes and it put the back out a bit as i was turning as well. After the england match i walked home late from my mates house after the football to find my mum saying the police had been round after reports of an incident.I hadnt told anyone where i was so they said they didnt know and the police left. It didnt click until later that night that someone had obviously seen me and reported me possibly thinking i was up to no good or something of that nature.now if he saw that and i know i didnt do anything wrong on purpose as cars had been all over that green and there was no permanent damage left. could i blame it on lack of experience as i had only passed my test 5/6 weeks ago ( or would this just aggrevate), there was no one and nothing near the car when it happened.What is worrying me the most is if more than one person saw it and thought the same and reported it.would the police come around again. i have a clean license but if its their word (or possibly words) against mine does that mean the other person/people should be belived over me.And i dont know who reported it so i cant sort out the misunderstanding. i am 17 and have a sunstrip so will the police believe me as they may think of me as a boy racer? Can someoone please advise me on how to go about this.

I would imagine the taste police will come around and nick you for having a sunstrip. Quite right too.

Do nothing, say nothing and if the Old Bill come round again don't get into conversation with them. Just deny any accusations, politely, and see what they do. If they caution you that you'll be prosecuted tell them, again politely, that you deny the charges absolutely and that you'll be pleading not guilty to any charge. Most witnesses won't want to get up in court and be cross examined by a solicitor. They may not even want to be identified.
And, by the way - keep that bloody music down, it's noise pollution and just annoys ordinary people.

lol.i dont think id blame them either. but it was cheap and is fairly tasteful(ish).

the only thing that did bother me is if i would get taken to court over nothing. im thinking that because they saw the strip and i was young with people in the car then they would automatically think i was up to no good. its not nice to stereotype but people still do it. thanks for the comments. ill keep you updated.

I know you are looking for advice, and the following wont help, but are you really doing yourself any favours practically BEGGING to be stereotyped acting like that?!?

Nice way to try and expalin that you were caught doiing something you shouldnt have been doing. If you cant control the car what are you going to be like on the road?

Just be honest with yourself and stop trying to blame something else you`ll earn more respect. We all do silly things at some point in our lives, its all part of growing up.

Maybe you need some additional lessons in car control

Hey, dont knock it - 1.3 Automatic Yaris hire car and entering a the Elephant and Castle roundabout thingy. Miss-timed foot on loud pedal and massive wheel spin!!! (ok, so it was the road surface rather than the car!) and plod on the pavement next to me giving me the evil eye.....

I have something like 16 years worth of experience.... mind you, was funny...

Back to the question though, I trust it will be a quiet word in your shell-like. Nothing more and nothing less.... maybe something happened previously and people are twitchy and hence looking into this. Its VERY unlikely anything will come of this - its not the public highway (IIRC) and therefore not exactly serious.... just be polite and reasonable and they will be in return....

im hoping thats what will happen.its definitely made me realise how i need my license and dont want anything to happen to it (especially as points would give percentage increases and you must have an estimate how much it costs to insure a 17 yr old fully comp on a 1.4 with points).ive been very careful since.

Oh, be careful when saying its alright when off road, section 3 Road traffic Act (Careless/Inconsiderate driving) can apply off road

Dont think because its not on the Highway as you know it that nothing can happen....it can

i agree with remaining polite and even if you dont admit anything, just be honest with yourself at least

I am thinking here that you applied the back brakes to get this phenomenom so you are not being quite truthful with us

How fortunate this mis-timing of revs had not occurred during your recent test because you were under pressure/distracted/concentrating on some other part of your drive

Get used to walking! It sounds as though you will not be driving that car for much longer if you are prone to mistakes of that nature . Keep the highway code part brushed up too. It saves a lot of cramming when you have to take part 1 again

I would not try to blame it on anything. If you were out of control and were seen out of control on that grass, regardless of the reason it happened, you are knackered. Ther needs to be no Mens Rea for

1. Driving without due care or

2. Failing to maintain proper control

They are offences of strict liability

It may have been a bit of revenge as well cos my best mates dad had a run in with the bloke may mate saw there and thinks reported it. if thats the case i dont know what he said to the police.
