Relevance of performance times to our uk roads

Thinking about this on the morning slog in.
0-60 times are relevant for single carriageway a and b roads
30-70 overtaking
50-75overtakibg
0-100mph irrelevant to our roads
Why do we not use
0-70mph
And in the future
0-80mph as that really is a stat many people will use
Many slip roads have traffic controlled lights so you would or could accelerate fully up to the limit
I'm sure autocar etc all do quote these times but hands up who knows their own cars 0-70mph times? I don't I'd have a guess at 8secods but wouldnt be sure
