during the summer I had a minor (ish) operation on my left knee. As a teenager I had a condition which cleared up but resulted in a small bone fragment being left floating behind the patella tendon. Despite 20 years of knee pain this wasn't spotted until an MRI this year.

Anyway, bit of bone was removed and I spent three weeks in a semi rigid cast and another three weeks of physio to get full range of motion back.

it is now a good few months and I am exercising as hard as I ever used to and don't get the crazy knee pain the following day.

HOWEVER.... The left leg is SOOOOOO weak!

I haven't really realised until I started to squat again, I am 6ft6 so never been one for huge weights ( I've got a long way to shift it!) but would happily do 100kg for reps......now I cant get over 50kg and even at that weight if i go to parallel I'm in danger of not getting back up! I also realised that my jump of my left leg (which was an easy dunk 20 years ago!) is now non-existant.

Given that the knee was not damaged as such - in that the op didnt fix anything snapped or bust (though was still knives/blood/poking about!) should the re-hab be this long?
