Just ordered some oil for the M6 (Castrol 10W-60)

The bottle says it was made in June 2010.

Is that acceptable?

I know you're talking about synthetics rather than mineral but it's been sat in the ground for millions of years. 2 more are not going to make a difference! smile

While we're on the subject.

If I open a bottle of oil, does it have some sort of reduced shelf life.

My gut feeling is no.
But, I wonder if the Magnatec additives will evaporate or the magnetic ionised molecules will demagnetise.

Should oil that's been opened for 12 months be binned – or not?

It will probably be in the engine for longer.
