Now what makes you think this car had been running BADLY for a long time?

First time I've ever revved it past about 3.5k RPM today. Man is there some accumulated soot in that engine!

My mate Charlie had his 4.2RV8 powered Capri 'round too.

I remember the first time I fired up my MGB that has sat for 6-8 years. Black carbon, stuff, I think a rat's nest, all kinds of nasty objects blew out and stuck to the garage wall. Pretty scary as I never expected her to fire up and run on the first crank. (I had completed rebuilt the engine and carbs but not touched the exhaust.)
