Newsnight - Rowenna Davis
Discussion
I've searched and can't even find a discussion mentioning Rowenna Davis on PH to my surprise.
Did anyone watch Newsnight last night (30/09/2011)? Just been watching it on iPlayer and had to stop at 15 mins. How can they give any airtime to such a clueless idiot whose arguments (if you can find one in what she says) just make absolutely no sense whatsoever. And she writes for the Guardian specialising in political affairs!
Utter utter complete bile from that woman's mouth. She literally has no idea about the real world.
Apparently she's a self confessed "feminist, liberal, lefty, economist and environmentalist".
I actually think I could have time for someone who is genuinely socialist/leans to the left if their reasoning added up and then would just accept some people have a difference of opinion. However the political landscape today really seems to between 'common sense, numbers stacking up and reasoned arguments' and 'emotive, irrational, and illogical' people like Rowenna and Caroline Flint (on QT the other day).

It does make me chuckle that a 22 year old journalist/Labour councillor thinks they should be listened to as some kind of business expert.
What possible first hand knowledge can she have gained to be seen as any kind of authority on the subject being discussed.
Completely agree with you but I suppose you would if people like the BBC kept inviting you onto their high profile late news slot to get your take on things! What the hell are organisations like the BBC doing giving people who fail to understand basics behind what they're talking about the same standing as experienced VC's like Jeremy Middleton. What possible first hand knowledge can she have gained to be seen as any kind of authority on the subject being discussed.

Sadly anything on the BBC will be represented by the latter. It is very frightening how these people make it into a TV studio and spout this utter rubbish to the masses. They cannot think deep enough about the countries problems before shouting there flawed and deeply nieve logic to the millions. But anyway, more importantly - i would enjoy 'banging' some sense into that one.

Labour would never get any airtime if that little caveat applied.I'm lucky my laptop screen survived that. Political views aside (which I disagree with) is there anything more annoying than someone who will forcefully bleat talk across someone else then, when a counterpoint is trying to be made raise her voice and insist "can I finish my point".
Jeebus.
Jeebus.
She is a little like that anoying little twunt Owen Jones, he wrote some feable book about chavs and the poor downtroden benifit scrogers and now gets wheeled out to spread
