My 2000 Accord has a retrofitted Meta Systems remote alarm. Has worked well enough, but there was no alarm manual with the car and I don't quite understand the beeps that it's started to sometimes make. For a year it's been silent when locking and unlocking the car with the 1-button remote.

But recently, it's started to beep 4 times when locking the car. Not always, just every now and then.

FWIW, the alarm fob looks like the M100 shown on this page: http://www.abacuscaralarms.co.uk/alarms/remote_con...

If anyone has or has had one of these and can remember what the beeps indicate, that'd be useful.

TIA smile

If it's anything like the meta on my TVR, it beeps if anything is still powered on when you arm it. For example if the interior light is still on it beeps, if you wait until it goes off before arming it doesn't.

My TVR runs a Meta system - it says in the Owner's Handbook that if the hazards flash four times, there's a fault with the system. On the Cerbera, when you lock the car, it beeps from the inside and flashes the hazards simultaneously - I'd suggest there's an issue somewhere.

Thanks chaps. Seems it's worth finding out more. Last Winter, the car killed its battery (not sure why). So maybe there's some underlying issue. I'll give Meta a call on Monday and see if they can give some advice.

Hi there,

How did you get on with contacting Meta?

I too am after a replacement M100 fob for my Lexus Soarer, and would rather try and find a replacement than
have to buy a completely new car alarm.

Cheers,

Steve

I too would like to know how you got on with contacting Meta, I've got a Meta System immobiliser on my car and I've thought of getting a spare fob for it.

(ahem) The problem went away and, as a typical bloke, I put it to the back of my mind. Then I recently traded the car in at a dealer.

So I have no useful epilogue to my story!

I've just bought a replacement fob.

A guy on ebay (from Denmark) had a replacement fob that accommodates perfectly the circuit
board, battery, etc from my old M99 remote. You just take it out the old remote, and place it inside the new remote.

He told me he had 6 in total, he has sold 4 (5 if you count me - which arrived today!), so he should have
one more left. he told me he will be placing this on ebay soon for £32 (that's what I paid for mine).

Note that the replacement fob is nothing like the old M99 fob - no silly rubber button that will soon perish.

These are completely different shape, and have a single triangular-shaped red META button that fits
exactly over the wee yellow button on the old circuit board.

The guy's name is Michael. He's selling the rubber buttons (JUST the rubber buttons) for the old Meta M99 on ebay for £15, so
I thought £32 for a whole new, and more robust, unit was a reasonable alternative (and I don't
want to buy a new car alarm system)
