looking for a chess game

Hi all,

I am looking to download a free chess game for me to pass the time away with.
Years ago, I used to have a great chess game called "Battle Chess"
Great game where the pieces morphed, and moved.

Any way, any one know where I can down load a free chess game, without the million cookies that go with it?

Get hold of a recent edition of 'chessmaster' from ebay or somewhere for tuppence. They have nice tutorials and guides that can really improve your chess and make you see the game in a new light. And the computer opponents can be customised from 5 year old dunce to genuine Grandmaster (ish).
Alternatively if you have an iPhone/android phone there are a number of chess apps, and some of them are fiendishly good. One of the android chess engines recently got to the quarter finals of an international chess tournament against real players and it was actually running on a phone!

My experience of 'free' chess games is they're rubbish, and faff as you try and marry the chess engine to the front end. Chessmaster cost me less than a fiver and I've been playing it for years.
