I side towards out. The EU is far to prescriptive and dictatorial.
I realise there is an argument about trade, but I doubt trade will reduce significantly on our exit.
As an aside, the threat to leave, may leave us with significantly more concessions.
After all someone has to pay into the EU!

I voted for the 'in with concessions' option, bearing in mind that Europe is a very major trading partner I don't think leaving would be wise. Importing from, and exporting to Europe is a damn site easier than the rest of the world, no customs, duties or VAT saves a lot of hassle,

To be honest I don't know. I (like many people who vote out I suggest) do not know enough about how this country actually benefits from being in. The media (obviously) concentrate on areas where we get stung but I am not stupid enough to believe that this is the full story. For me, that is the problem with a referendum. People will make choices based on what they know and if that it not full information (which it never will be) then it will be an ill informed decision.
To be honest I think the reason we are where we are is that we often think we can do better on our own. We have to remember that we are actually very small but with a loud voice. I do wonder if we had gone into it right at the start rather than trying to get in when its all running in the 70s whether we would now be in a different place by actually being in the driving seat rather than having to sit behind France and Germany.
I do think that all the talk of lack of sovereignty etc is a real smokescreen as in a capitalist world we don't really have that anyway with many huge companies having vast power over the UK and other countries that makes EU meddling pale into insignificance

I am all pro Europe as far as easing trade and aiding business deals/transactions is concerned.
However, i am disgusted at the unelected idiots imposing petty bureaucracy and creating laws on UK soil, taking billions from us, threatening us with fines if we do not obey etc etc. Also the fact that Brown and Millipede signed the EU constitution without giving us a referendum as promised.
All in all, at the moment i find the EU 'parliament' a very scary thing indeed, something needs to be curbed very quickly.

The thing is, the EU isn't the only trading bloc in the world, but it seems to be the only one where members are required to have the same laws, currency, parliament, flag, leader, etc.
Is there any one left who still thinks it's a benign, trade-only organisation?
Why must we have 'ever closer political union'?
Scares the hell out of me
