Rover V8 adjustable pushrod

Can some one tell me how the tips go in?

At a guess im going to freeze the tips and heat the rods up,

Or is there a proper way?

Having tried a press, hammering the ball using a lead cover to prevent damage, heating up one with a blow torch (mistake, got it too hot) I put the rods in the oven and the balls in the freezer. A light tap with a hammer and in they went.
