Ecclestone to give evidence at Gribkowsky trial

Describing Ecclestone as 'Formula 1 boss', The Times has said that he will give evidence at the Gribkowsky trial which starts this month.
The trial relates to charges of a £28 million bribe paid to, they say, CVC, who own the commercial rights to F1.
The £28 million is said to have come from Ecclestone and his offshore family trust Bambino.
Ecclestone says he paid Gribkowsky because the banker threatened that he would otherwise make false allegations about his financial affairs to the Inland Revenue.
I would assume that being accused of having something to do with a £28m bribe would always come at a poor time but the concorde agreement is up for grabs at the moment and this is vital to CVC's interests.
The Murdochs have, many say, the desire to buy the commercial rights from CVC although the latter have said that they are not selling: little teases! Mind you, this is not a particularly easy time for the Murdochs either. You may have read something about it, although not so much if you only read The Times.
I don't believe in coincidences. However, all this coming together at the same time is probably one of those times.
Eccs also said that CVC cannot sack him. One wonders if this is true.

The thing is there are probably only about 5 people in the world who really know what happened. It will certainatly be interesting to see Me Ecclestone placed under oath where he has to give honest answers or go to prison!
One thing is for certain. We simply cant believe anything we have read about this case! Evry media outlet seems to be on one side or the other in this one. Either the Murdoch papers or in the case of Pitpass, a quite comical bias!

I hate to break it to you but people lie all the time in court, under oath, and do not get prosecuted for it....... I wish it were not so, but it is.
What I can't understand is what happened to the other allegations. This from The Times of a couple of months ago:

CVC will want to come out of this intact. One wonders if Eccs suggestion that he cannot be sacked will be tested if the publicity turns a bit nasty and any nefarious activities come to light.

In return, he is also alleged to have paid Ecclestone $41.4 million, with an extra $40 million going to the Ecclestone family’s Bambino trust. Gribkowsky faces a long jail term if found guilty.

it does make you wonder, doesn't it. The only thing going for it is that it is so off the wall that you have to say that if he was going to make something up then there are any number of stories that would have been better.
It has the benefit of him not having to declare any 'error' on his behalf. I mean, like he would if he had done something wrong which Gribkowsky knew about.
Also what defence would Grib have against such an allegation? He can't say he knew of nothing that Eccs had done wrong because that would be conforming to part of the MO. If he says he knew something about Eccs then that would put him in the frame from blackmail.
It gives the lie to those who reckoned that Eccs had connections with the underworld because all he would have had to do was to get him eliminated. Or perhaps get someone to feed duff information to the fraud squad.
I wonder if this will knock money off the value of the commercial rights. If so then Murdoch is in for a windfall.
