.............. I have a '99 500 and my battery has given up the ghost (been on charge for about a week with Accumate and it can't recover it!!!) - what is the best / better battery to get? Many thanks in advance for your help!

If you can stretch to it I would really recommend the Optima RTS 4.2. Its expensive at £168 with vat but well worth it. You can get them from the battery megastore online.

TSJ10 - glad to see your passenger footwell looks just as scruffy as mine! Does your ECU live there in the footwell now? Mine lives iout in the open, in a plastic box along with it's wiring loom and relays etc etc. Got fed up with trying to stuff it all in above the battery. Looks like a dog's dinner

The battery, ECU and wiring arrangements are a real mess, it always look as if the car has been disembowled.

I try to put it all back behind the foot well panel as neatly as possible, and always fail. I am sure someone could design a simplified board or box and shorten or strip out the excess wiring.
