My new escort toy
Discussion
well after years of loving them I went out and done it. Friday morning I peeled myself out of bed at 530 and trudged up the m1 in my truck to go look at my now third mk1 escort, I was hoping this would be the one. I turned up and walked up the path to the front door, knocked as loud as I dare (it was still 8am), no reply but I could hear rustling in the garage, I went round the back and there it was-

Not really been out in it yet as I have had a hectic weekend and took the little un to Wales.
Don't really know much about these to be fair, I am a mechanic and run my own business but this thing was around before I was a twinkle in my dads ball bag.
Here is a shot after a full flat and polish that I had carried out Saturday morning.
Basic specs are-
1993 escort, wide arched (steel arches)
C20 let vauxhall engine (270 bhp)
Fibre glass bonnet and tail gate.
Weighs in at 900 kgs, all in all noisy and go kart like lol
I hope there are other members that can help me with any issues should I have them or places I can go to get parts etc
Cheers, Carl

The sir, is epic. I'd love to know a little more about this, more so why a Vauxhall engine was chosen over one of Fords own?C20 let vauxhall engine (270 bhp)

Sorry people only just got in from work, I have a few shot but there not the best, here you are for now, will update when I can.
Regards the horse power, it runs a mega squirt ecu and has cam verniers etc, the turbo doesn't look a standard item either lol.
Yes regards it not being French, tis very weird but also an exciting experience, it gets a lot of views and loads of people take photos of it.

The head on the C20XE and LET was developed by Cosworth for GM. They took an old 70's GM 2 litre block and redeveloped it with a nice 16v head. Sound familiar...? It's every bit as much a Cosworth as the Ford YB which of course used the old Ford Pinto block with a Cosworth 16v head...!

PS: I have a YBD hence I resemble that statement in the photo.

Looks stunning... would love a shot of one, sadly missed that generation.
Out of interest how well do these handle out on the open road compared to the modern hot hatch? Assuming a few trick suspension parts are fitted of course
A modern Duratec Escort would be fantastic
