I've got a Bosch 70/30 Fridge Freezer which is about 8 years old.

In recent months it start to smell a bit and it is getting worse. It's an unpleasant smell, a bit musty but definitely not nice. There is no out of date food in there, no mould that I can see, the drain is clear and clean but it still smells. I washed it out last weekend and used anti-bact on it but within an hour of the door being closed it smelt horrid again.

One thing that I have noticed is it does not appear as cold in there anymore so could it do with re-gassing, assuming that sort of thing can still be done. Is that also why it might smell?

I'm at a loss as to what else it might be but cannot work out why that would then cause it to smell...

Any ideas gratefully received.

You could always try and stick a thermometer in it to check the temperature.
Is it still switched on? sometimes a plug can look like it's in the socket but it's not properly in.

The smell is in the fridge, not around or behind it but good idea though.

It is switched on as my freezer bit would have thawed out weeks back had it not been.

Done that already when I cleaned it out last weekend. Made no difference.

Cut a lemon in half and leave it in the fridge. Sorted my fridge out.

As suggested above, if you suspect that the fridge is running warmer than it should be get a thermometer in there to measure the temperature. Assuming that the door seals are all in good condition, and the freezer compartment is working ok, and that the stat is set to maximum cold, I'd be inclined to put a warm fridge down to a problem with the thermostat.

Also check the evaporating tray behind the fridge for smells and give that a clean. If food/liquids have drained out into that through the drain tube, they'll be rotting away nicely in the warmth from the motor.

Turned out to be incorrect installation of the integrated unit had caused it to fail.

Replacement is the only option having cut lots of ventilation in the carcass it sits in first!!!
