Just spent 5 minutes in the work car-park looking at a 61 plate Nissan Juke and wondering what the hell it is. Is it brave new design, or is it a car styled on a pug dog? confused

Those lights going up the bonnet, the funny stance, the profile, the front.

Form over function? No, that can't be right.

Function over form? No, can't be that either.

Er....

It would have been easy for Nissan to design something so bland it sends you into a coma. I for one quite like the fact they have gone crazy with with Juke. It's not the car for me, and it's certainly not beautiful, but at least it's a fun and interesting shape.

I know I'm not alone in this, although maybe a minority on PH. But I think it looks great. Funky and original and above all not a boring blob like 99% of most modern cars.

Also if you look at most modern cars, like a Focus, you'll see how tall the front of the car is (impact regs I think). They try and hide it with creases in the bonnet to make it look more sleek, but they aren't.

Nissan seemed to have embraced this, rather than tried to hide it and have come up with something unique.

I'm all for it, and I'm sure it'll gain popularity and a following because they are different.

Seems to me to have been something of a sales success, of which I'm glad.

I reckon it would be badass if the circle lights weren't quite so..circle. If they kind of flaired back a bit with the upper lights it would look a lot better, you'll just have to try and imagine it, i can't be arsed to fire up mspaint wink

If they removed the front lights/hid them behind the grill then I think it would look 100 times better. As it stands, I do find it a bit odd looking and have been surprised at just how many I see regularly, however I was surprised at the success of the Qashqai so that goes to show what I know about mainstream family car consumerism.

Have to agree - it may look a little different but IMHO thats no bad thing. Very brave of Nissan to move so far away from the usual box but I think it's worked and looks great!

yes I think it's lovely to see something that stands out on the road; it's so rare these days. frown

No idea if they're any good, mind.

Yeah, must admit it did kind of light up the car-park of blandness, it was the first one I've had a good close look at, but have to say I'm in the undecided camp whether I could say I like or dislike its styling. Just left me walking away a bit like this ---> confused

People thought the original Focus or the current Honda Civic were mad looking when they first came out. After a while you see so many of them they become almost invisible.

I really like them - the front end has really grown on me, and the rear three quarter profile looks great. Interior looks funky too. That high suspension and big tyres make a lot of sense in todays environment (ie. potholes, poor surfaces, speed bumps).

Good on Nissan, I say.

At least it's not another flaming 'retro' design of something we produced yonks ago and we're too lazy/scared to think outside the box.

The Juke is not my cup of tea but well done Nissan for taking a chance.

I was driving in front of one in the dark last week, didn't know WTF was behind me, I just saw six lights beaming at me.

Very good lease deals on them too.

Needed something bigger than a Juke so have just got a Qashqai, great piece of kit as a family holdall. Looks ok, plenty of equipment for the money, well built and also built in Britain too.

My Dad has just bought one of these as a second car (#1 is a Maserati Gran Turismo). I wasn't convinced at all initially (we christened it the frog) but I have to say its a great little car and the more I see it the more I warm to its quirky looks. It's cheap, spacious, comfortable, well specced and quite fun to drive. Good on Nissan for daring to be a bit different I say.

Hideous looking thing, saw one on road a few weeks back, from a distance I thought it had been in an accident (stuff/lights all over the place) then realised as it got closer it had been impacted by nothing more than the ugly stick! The Juke is nothing more than a modern Suzuki X90, ugly and pointless!

Those on here saying 'its great/different/intersting' should hang your heads in shame.

shame on you!

I really like them, actually everyone in my close family does.

They are also pretty good to drive, not bad price wise either.
