Hola

Mrs A drives a 2006 B200. I like driving it now and then, but couldn't do a long journey in it without cruise control as my right ankle starts to ache grumpy

Has anyone successfully retro-fitted cruise control to a B-Class, or maybe a C-Class might be similar? I've searched around and found this thread which suggests it's a matter of fitting these parts and then getting some programming done:

A169 462 02 23 Verkleidung.......€10,30
A169 540 33 45 Reparatursatz...€10,52
A169 545 00 04 Schalter.............€65,11

I just want to get some more opinions really before I try and locate those parts.

Cheers

This aftermarket mod might be cheaper, simply apply to throttle pedal and hang on. . . . . .

If it's a modern ECU, it should just be a case of buying the stalk and coding it into the ECU. I don't have a merc, but that was what it was on my VW.

Your likely to get more specialist knowledge on an MB forum I would have thought...

Yeah, thanks Gents. I was trying to avoid joining the MB World forum and asking, simply because I'm a lazy bd, but I'll give it a go.

Guessing it must be a manual? The Auto (or CVT) models have cruise control as standard. As with VW group cars I doubt fitting the stalk itself isn't too hard or expensive, but it will need to be coded to work, most likely by a dealer.

Hello

Just to update you on a successful retro-fit of cruise control / speed limiter to my A180CDI auto, I went the dismantlers route after seeing a stalk switch on ebay, but MB dealer prices 01/12 inclusive of Vat are:

A169 462 02 23 Paneling ..... £ 15.72
A169 540 33 45 Repair Kit ... £ 14.16
A169 545 00 04 Switch ...... £ 93.60

Fitted switch myself 40 min job, OK if you have the right tools.

Then it needs SCN online coding at a MB dealer £115 + Vat. weeping Independant specialist said it couldn't be done!

Hope this helps.

Thanks for that - so about £250 all in. To be honest, I've not been driving the car that often and Mrs A doesn't like cruise control so wouldn't use it irked
