Jaguar XKR brakes

I was at a private track day at Goodwood on Saturday and my son took my XKR out and after 3 laps it had no brakes with the pads smoking. I have Brembo's as its an 04 car. I have experienced brake fade before when driving it on the roads in a spiritted manner.. do I need bigger discs? The pads are only 2-3k miles old

Before changing expensive mechanical bits. What pads and fluid are you using?

standard brembo pads and fluid. I dont plan on taking it on track that often as I have something more suitable but I do want it to brake better on the road and I thought Brembo's were supposed to be the proverbial? If there is a recognized good middle ground between standard and race I would be very interested?

04 plate is that the current shape or the older shape?

Older shape very prone to brake fade from my experience, Brembo pads not the greatest either, what was the symptom, was it that the peddle went to the floor which would point to the fluid boiling or did it end up feeling hard with no or very little retardation in which case the pads were starting to melt?

If it was the former get some high temp brake fluid, if it was the later get better pads, Carbon Lorraine for instance or Pagid.

I am not sure as it was my son who fried them but when he came in smoke was coming from the pads and a couple of hours later when I drove out to lunch the pedal was long so a bit of both! At the risk of sounding very stupid will Pagid pads fit into the same calipers and re the fluid I can get racing fluid put in bythe guys who run my race car - will that be ok on the road? I dont want to become a permanent track car just something I know works!

I've run race fluid in the MX5 before (RBF600). It's no problem. Just have to swap it out slightly more frequently (2 rather than 3 years) as it tends to absorb water easier. Worked fine day to day, but after a couple of years it was a bit soft when given abuse on track.
