TVR white.........................
Discussion
Hi guys i'm wanting to get some paint mixed up for some winter projects and i was wondering if anyone new the official name for the white that my 450 has? It's a 1989 model year. I know i could get the paint code from the chassis number but wondered if anyone new it's actual name e.g Ford Arctic White or Ford Glacier White etc...?
Also i have to bare in mind that any new paint will show up against the 22yr old original.
I mainly want it to spray the front lower spoiler around the driving lamps and in the engine bay.
Hopefully parts that will not show up too obviously as being a different colour due to their location on the car...............
Cheers Jimbo

Hi Jimbo
I had a 1989 wedge a few years ago that I had partly sprayed professionally on the front end and the wings. The sprayer guy told me that these cars no longer use cellulose paint but instead a water based colour with a clear lacquer top coat. What I'm trying to say is be careful what you spray it with as it may cause a reaction with the old paint. Having said all that a sprayer would chemically match your old paint and then spray as he did with mine. Believe me I just could not tell the difference between the old and the new. It was absolutely superb.

Thanks guys. David, is the paint a specific TVR colour rather than Ford/Rover etc etc?
If you have a touch up then i'd be interested so let me know how many beer tokens.
I believe the bonnet was painted a few years ago. There is a paint line i discovered whilst replacing all the pinstriping. Colour wise it matches the rest of the car fine however.
Cheers Jimbo

Hi Jim
A good paint place will be able to match it and find out the colour for you, Best to use someplace who knows how to paint Fibre Glass, But that not a problem about here
When I had mine looked at, What I thought the paint was called, I was wrong, and the man named the colour by looking at it, and then he proved it in his colour lists.
